I’m sure those people in the KTM Komuter were looking at me weird as
I was explaining the VPN connection sequence to one of our client’s tech
support personnel over the cellphone on the way home. “No! You’re not
seeing any IP 47 (GRE) traffic on your firewall ‘cos your VPN server is
not done authenticating the user! Yes! I know there’s connection going
on over TCP port 1723, but that’s just the PPTP control traffic, which
also includes stuff for the authentication also-lah! Aiyahhh!” There goes
my street cred, man…

Malaysians are competitive. While that is good, sometimes they’re
also unnecessarily competitive. At the wrong place and time too. What’s
wrong with patiently waiting in line for your turn to board the bus or LRT
instead of pushing and shoving everyone in your way and cutting queues
just so that you can board it faster? Likewise when driving on the road
in the middle of a traffic jam. Everybody has to go to work too. Winning
is good. But I always reckon it’s better when you don’t step on
everyone else’s toes along the way.
Y’know, if Malaysians in general know how to use the public toilet better,
we don’t have to spend up to 50 sen sometimes just to use it. I reckon
that much money is charged ‘cos it costs a lot (janitorial, water bill, etc.)
just to clean up the mess we make when we use the loo. Anyways, I
was at a shopping mall this afternoon and I didn’t have small change
since I just got some cash at the ATM machine. I needed to go REAL
BAD and the smallest denomination I had on me was a RM 10 note.
The attendant just refused to give me change and entry (I did see
some RM 5, RM 2 and RM 1 notes along with coins in his drawer) and I
ended up having to hold it down until I managed to buy something
and have some small change. Good thing I have good bladder control
and some patience left. Otherwise, I’d be pissing all over the place and
be majorly pissed over the whole damned thing. I’m still pissed though.
Child’s Voice: Daddy?
Father’s voice: Yes, son?
Child’s voice: Wh-wh-what-what-what does regret mean?
Father’s voice: Well, son. A funny thing about regret is, that it’s
better to regret something you have done, than to regret something
you haven’t done. And by the way, if you see your Mom this weekend,
can you be sure and tell her SATAN! SATAN! SATAN! SATAN! SATAN!
SATAN! SATAN! SATAN!

Malaysia celebrates its 45th year of independence. We’ve certainly
come a long way to reach this far. Still, there’s a long list of things that
can and oughtta be improved for the betterment of all.
