Cheapened Overrated IT Certifications

Nothing irks me more than interviewing a pimply faced sysadmin
wannabe who proclaims to have been “conferred the title of MCSE
and MCDBA” (by monkey boy Ballmer,
no less) but know absolutely nothing when asked what Active
Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, routing, subnets, etc. etc. is all
about conceptually, let alone practically. If I ever come across
another of those paper MCSE
interviewees, you can be sure that I’m gonna proclaim myself as
“The best MCSE,
CISSP
and some say CCNA!
So don’t play-play!” when in actuality I only hold SRP, SPM and a
D class driver’s license.

Yes this Microsoft paper mill producers are only after one thing – your money. By the sheer duration of their courses, what value can you place on the certificates they dish out? Only the dates of their courses!

is the guy really a certified MCSE? Or just someone took the MCSE course? I just done my MCAD course, it is nothing and I got four certs of achievement. I don’t think it is easy to pass the papers. Not sure about MCSE, but my trainer took 6 months and resit several times to pass MCSD.

I was one of those paper MCSEs once. Crammed for the exams and got the certs just to get a good job. Got the good job, then got gobs of real knowledge and experience. Anyway, it is a bit scary how many paper MCSEs there are out there!

anyway, is it even possible to have a trainer that doesn’t know how to count subnet mask? argh feel like giving up already.. and one more q, is it also possible to have classes esp for 291 only to discuss bout the function of certs?
