I’ve had this car for a good 12 years and it has served me extremely well. I suppose I was very lucky to have opted for the Mk 6 GTI (and somewhat influenced by Jeremy Clarkson) as I’ve been spared from the dreaded mechatronic problems that plagued a lot of the Mk 6 Golf due to the use of dry clutch. It was a very practical car despite it being a hot hatch and very, very fun to drive. Stepping the accelerator pedal never fails to bring a smile to my face (along with that slight whiplash) even till today despite losing a couple of horses from its 2 litre engine! And boy, can it run too! We once managed to make a 283km dash from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur in 2 hours 8 minutes with my parents in tow! Good times!
